An Epitaph to Get You Out of Debt

An Epitaph to Get You Out of Debt

Don’t worry; you don’t have to die to get out of debt. However, an epitaph is great framework to living a life of positive thinking that will help you get out of debt. Sounds crazy, right?

An epitaph is short and sweet. It sums up your life in three or four words. There’s not a lot of room there. Think of what you want in life. Do you want it to read:

· Kept his garage clean

· Achieved sales quotas

· Sold 10,000 vacuums

· Excellent resume

I like to equate my epitaph with my life mission. A life mission is short and sweet. No need to get wordy about it – just like your tombstone.

· Great dad

· Great husband

· Great educator

I could live with that. Three things – that’s all you need. Once you gain perspective you are on your way to get out of debt. Take a stab at what you would want on your tombstone or said at your eulogy. If it’s not clear, take that as a sign that you need to find where you are at in your life mission. Don’t be hard on yourself. It will change throughout the course of your life.

Even the magnetic north pole changes course 30-50 miles per year in the Northwest direction. Your life mission will also change direction, and that’s okay, too. I used to think that “great husband” was my life mission, but I might combine “great dad” with “great husband” to say “great family man”.

That way, I can add one more mission statement. I know that I want to live volunteering my time to help empower people in their life mission. I know how to get out of debt, now I am going to teach it. In the process, I will install it in my life that much further.

To get out of debt:

· Make a list of what you love doing and pick three things you can do on it now.

· Take the things of highest importance from your love list.

· Stop doing the things you procrastinate on.

· Formulate your life mission.

· Only do the things you are good at.

One time I had a friend ask me what I thought he should do about picking between two jobs. One paid well, but he hated the job. The other job he loved but it paid less. I asked him what he expected from the job he loved. He told me that he would probably succeed doing it, get promotions, raises, and his family life would improve.

Well what did he think if he took a job he hated? Well, let’s just say that between depression, marital problems, and wallowing in debt, the answer wasn’t pretty.

What does this all mean? It means that by making positive changes in your life, you will be on the road to living debt-free and improving your self-confidence.

Failure Could Be Your Biggest Advantage to Double Your Income

Failure Could Be Your Biggest Advantage to Double Your Income

No one likes to fail, and I’m sure it’s hard to see how it could possibly double your income. However, those scrapes and bruises could define your ability to make it through a rough time. With the economy as turbulent as it is today, this type of skill could prove invaluable. When you learn the consequences of your actions, you became a stronger person that is able to stand up to adverse times.

We’ve all faced our share of tough lessons. There are very few of us that just woke up one day and had it all planned out and were ready to go. I was one of those people that took about 30 years to figure out how to get out of debt, double my income, or just simply do something I love.

I have been married and divorced. I proposed to a lady a few years ago who turned me down when I was in the height of my career. I was side struck and devastated. I honestly never saw it coming. I moped around for over a half a year before I met Karyn.

Karyn was the lady that I had wanted to meet my whole life. I got down on bended knee in front of an audience of 100 people at a life-transforming seminar in Hawaii recently. She said “Yes!” I couldn’t be happier. I would never have experienced this type of joy if it hadn’t been for my previous “failure”.

Thirty years ago, I started applying for jobs trying to figure out what I loved. I had my heart set on this job for six months. When I didn’t get it, I was a wreck. The truth of the matter is that I never would have gotten the job making a speech that launched my career as a teacher and mentor. In all likelihood, if I had gotten that job, I would still be working 60 hours a week and a very unhappy man. This failure launched me to the level of success that I enjoy today.

Not all failure has to be bad. Take those failures and use them as your new set of skills to identify the things in life that really matter to you. I know that during a tough time, the chances to double your income may seem dismal, but you have to start somewhere.

Some of the greatest opportunist rediscovered the Law of Attraction and positive thinking during tough times. Did you know that Napoleon Hill wrote one of the best-selling books of all time, Think and Grow Rich, during the middle of The Depression? He ended up creating a formula for some of the most influential teachers. Franklin D. Roosevelt was even known to employ his advice.

Let’s get started down the road of success together. Take this turbulent economy and make an opportunity of it. Learn how to solve your problems. When you or your friends start to complain, take a different approach. Try to find a solution. The ability to double your income depends largely on your ability to move through a situation with strength and courage to do what you love.

Motivation Doesn’t Work For Success

Motivation Doesn’t Work For Success

Staying motivated is an impossibility.

Motivation wears off. It’s like a shower. You cannot stay clean forever from one shower, you need to keep taking showers every day to stay clean. Similarly, you will need to keep pumping yourself up if you wish to stay motivated. It is an empty pursuit.

Fortunately, I teach my mentored students that there is a goal far more rewarding than being motivated. That loftier goal is to do only what you love. When you do what you love, you are automatically and internally motivated.

Here’s how you do that… Read more…

Leadership From Within

Leadership From Within

When most people think of great leaders they picture someone extraordinary, like Mother Theresa, Mahatma Gandhi or Bill Gates, but the truth is everyone is born with leadership qualities.

As children we start out having a real sense of who we are and what we’re passionate about. We dream, are perpetually curious and live in the moment, plus we feel things and are not afraid to show it. We trust ourselves and our beliefs.

Then life gets in the way.
